Development: 3. Multiple Points of View

Alyx Entwistle

Multiple points of view is when a film shows various character's points of view. Because a film generally has one storyline, the technique is used so the audience are able to see mutiple points of view from multiple characters which helps to progress the film.

This is apparent is the majority of films but the example I have picked out is a slight twist on the technique. REC, a Spanish horror film from 2007, was shot and edited in a handheld documentary way. The main character is a TV reporter so the movie is filmed by her 'camera man'. We see many multiple point of view because the camera is always moving, and there are also many characters because of the handheld style.
